Never liked rap then or now but when liscense to ill came out ( yeah i know it wasnt their first )EVERYBODY and I mean EVERYBODY was listening. Black White didnt make a difference you couldnt go anywhere without hearing cars thumping it. Lost interest/havent followed them for years but those first few albums ( liscense to ill thru check your head )are still a blast to me.

I f*cking love The Beastie Boys. I think they may be the only group I bought every single release that was commercially available. Cookie Puss to Hot Sauce v2. RIP indeed Adam. Dude was only 47.

License To Ill came out my Senior Year in High School. Possibly the greatest hip hop album ever. Rick Rubin, Russell Simmons - the whole crew was outstanding.

Today I would tell you Paul's Boutique is my favorite album. The funny thing is - I did not get it for a while after I bought it. I had to listen to it about 50 times then I loved it.

I think that everybody was like that with Paul's Boutique. It's a complex album that was WAY ahead of its time.

Taking your kids to a concert they want to see what a great bonding time. Many years ago but not long enough to forget, I offered to take my 14 y/o daughter and her girlfriend to a concert by the Beastie Boys who had just hit it big with there single :Fight for the right to Party: a catchy little ditty. Anyway everything went well until the final song..the grand finale..When they inflated a 20FT PENIS ON THE STAGE!!!! It was a very quiet ride home needless to say......

They did what no one else did and were the best at it. Kind of like a band we know. RIP MCA.
